Vendor Management

In the AEC space today, our clients are using fit-for-purpose technology from a number of vendors to assist in achieving their project delivery requirement. With the adoption of Lean and BIM processes on both infrastructure and building projects, there are a greater number of technology solutions in the market today than there was over five years ago.

With the number of tools in the marketplace with similar offerings, and vendors/resellers skilled in the art of presentation, it is difficult for our clients to understand which technology suits their business, if it integrates with other tools in the business, if it can collaborate with other consultants, how it can maximise buying power, license type considerations, and if it is truly fit-for-purpose.

The procedure used by Consult AEC begins with a series of interactive workshops, followed by a structured set of procedures.

In following these procedures, we ensure that a thorough examination of the existing environment is undertaken to produce a clear high level ‘go to business’/design process model, which is then quantified in a structured execution. The way in which we support our customers may typically follow this process:

  1. Discovery Workshop (DW) – this is essentially a fact-finding mission that is conducted onsite
  2. Solution Definition (SD) – provides clear and structured documentation from the findings of the DW
  3. Program Plan (PP) – specifies the details on how the SD will be executed
  4. Reporting (R) – a mature system of reporting and tracking milestones ensures all parties are clear on progress.
